Industry: Private Equity / Investment Management

Client: A UAE based mid-market private equity fund initially engaged with us to build a transaction model for a potential investment of 30 million USD in a 14 million USD turnover business at a pre-money valuation of 90 million USD. The quality, responsiveness, and commercial usefulness of the first model converted a one-off assignment into a broader relationship spanning additional deal models, in-house team training, and a referral to an investee company.

Problems

  • Short Transaction deadline to complete the Model and present a clear financial summary to the Investment Committee.
  • Lacked in-house bandwidth to build a complex transaction model
  • Needed a professional modelling firm’s independent Audit on the existing business case model received by the investee company
  • Had doubts about outsourcing and working with a team of Analysts from a different location.

Solution

  • Started with the investment thesis and key decision questions before building the model.
  • Created clear input sections, operating drivers, expansion capex, and debt schedules.
  • Built scenarios flexibility for management, base, downside and upside cases.
  • Included a clean dashboard with key inputs and outputs such as valuation results, IRR / MOIC analysis, and sensitivity tables for IC and negotiation discussions.
  • Kept the model transparent, auditable, and easy for the PE team to update during live deal discussions.
  • Worked iteratively as management data, assumptions, and deal inputs evolved.

Client Benefits

  • Faster and clearer investment evaluation
  • Better visibility on key value drivers and risks
  • Confidence from a specialist modelling partner
  • Reliable and prompt support during tight deadlines

IMPACT ON US

What began as a one-off transaction model build evolved into a trusted partner relationship across the fund and its portfolio ecosystem.

Following the successful first assignment:

  • The PE fund engaged with us for two additional model build mandates.
  • Later, the relationship expanded from modelling support to capability building and they requested a hands-on onsite financial modelling training course for their in-house team.
  • The fund also referred us to one of its investee companies for developing their business case model for upcoming fundraises.
